Crowdsourcing is a sourcing model in which individuals or organisations obtain information, services or content from a large group of people, typically, but not necessarily via the internet. The word itself comes from the mixture of crowd and outsourcing.

Example of use

Crowdsourcing relies on the opinion, experience of a crowd. It can target internal or external participants of a business or service. A good example is Waze where the users can enter their input directly to the service by adding traffic jams, police radar hotspots etc.
